Chapel of N.Sra Auxiliadora de Santo António

This chapel was built in 1936 in a private land. It is a modern and eclectic construction, highlighting a typical “art deco” geometry.

Its façade is made out of concrete, painted white and grey, with window frames shaped like crosses and a bell tower framed in the church’s front façade.

Inside, we may find a headstone with the following inscription: “HERE LIES PRIEST JOÃO E. Z. BETENCOURT / 1862-1942 / AND / FAMILY”, which entails the existence of a primitive chapel on the location.
