Fábrica da Baleia de Porto Pim

The permanent collection of the Porto Pim Whaling Station consists of all its original machinery. In this former factory the visitor goes through the several staging rooms for the full sperm whale processing: oil and grease extraction as well as the meat, bones and blood milling. These products were economically relevant until the second half of the 20th century. The sperm-whale room shows a 10 m female skeleton. The facilities were recently renovated and reopened to the public in October 2018.
