Watermills of Ribeira Funda

The use of watermills and azenhas in the Azores is older than the use of coastal windmills. In Ribeira Funda, we observe two greatly preserved watermills built in side channels of the main waterline, taking advantage of the declivity and descent of water. Both are built with displayed stonework.
